The Story of Gregory Neston from Gregory in the Arts
Gregory Neston: I have maintained my skills in creating Artwork. I live in Orlando and strive to be an Artist. It took Togetherness of Mentoring and Business Teamwork, to have my dream to get my artwork recognized. I have hand-drawn art since elementary school. I used “how to draw” books, but did not follow the steps, I just looked at and drew the final image. My graphic artwork started with MS-Paint, coloring in scans of my own hand-drawn characters, this lead to making game cards and playing cards , combining my skills with MS Word and MS PowerPoint I still have them today. I worked with Jasic Paint Shop and grew from there to Adobe Photoshop at Mid Florida Tech with marketing teacher Mr. H. Stephens
I am an Artist of Creativity and Inspiration. This means I cannot create art unless i am inspired with motivation. It cheers me up and rarely do I plan out what I draw. More often the art I create flows and I tap in it to create as much art I can before the flow dries up. There is far more freestyle to my art in photography. I have an awareness of a lot that is around me, I use a 90's Kodak Digital Camera to capture what attracts my eye, there is far more to the picture than just a landscape or portrait of a animal. There are pictures I took playing with the Camera setting with no photo-enhancing
I do a good amount of my favorite art combining my photography and graphic arts ability with Corel Paint to combine layers of photography and graphic arts to make a complete final image. Also, I use my photography and Corel Draw to trace all the details in the image, making it a Coloring Book Outline. Armando Hevia encouraged me that I have talent unique as myself, I created prints for him by coloring book tracing my pictures of his steel sculpture and using Corel Paint to make them a new image. Prints are sold on his web site.
Next was choosing to work out with a private trainer thus meeting Keno which lead to the brotherhood and mentoring of Matthew Woodard and soon enough the attention of Ron Betta of https://www.artof.fitness/ who published my coloring book created with the outline skills. Ron let me sale my prints at his store. The show ended up becoming my family get-together showing support of my art. Getting a book published was my crowning achievement at that time.
I became a regular customer of West Orange Comics & Video Games buying shirts and more than a few soda's along the way. I was accepted into a brotherhood with Zack Mitchell as a meeting of minds absorbed with artistry. West Orange Comics & Video Games Owners, Joe Basick and Scott Schlazer, invited me to sell in the “Artist Alley at Clermont Comic Con.” This was amazing. I gained firsthand experience. At West Orange Comics & Video Games, I approached Joe Basick and Scott Schlazer about displaying my art in their store. My artwork has been accepted by them and the community. I now have Comic Book fan art bookmarks and original shirts for sale in their store.
